5Excellent CCNA book!Jun 20, 2008

This book covers the WAN concepts that you will encounter on the CCNA Exam. It has chapters covering Basic WAN Concepts, PPP, Frame Relay, Network Security, ACLs, IPv6, NAT, DHCP, and Network Troubleshooting. The beginning of each chapter lists the exam objectives in the format of questions, and it also lists the key terms that you can look up in the glossary. I found this helpful because I could easily look up whatever term I was unfamiliar with before I started reading each chapter. I could also get an idea of what I was expected to learn from this chapter by reading the exam objectives. The diagrams in each chapter were explained in an easy to understand format, and that really helped me understand the concepts. The activities with each chapter helped me reviewcthe concepts that I learned in each chapter. There is also a "Check Your Understanding" and a "Challenging Questions" part at the end. These really tested me and helped me make sure I understood the concepts in each chapter. I was easily able to figure out what areas I needed to improve in. After going through this book I'm very confident of all the material I learned in it. I now have a clear understanding of WAN concepts, access lists, and network security. I highly recommend purchasing the CCNA Exploration Accessing the WAN Labs also for hands on experience.

5Always get books from AmazonFeb 23, 2012

I have purchased textbooks from Amazon for the past two years and have always been satisfied with my purchases. I save about 40-50 percent on textbooks and usually shipping ends up being free anyway.

5Well written, easy to learn fromOct 09, 2011

This series is very well done and by the time you finish the book and the exercises you've pretty much learned what you needed to know. The packet tracers on the companion disc are very useful. The size is convenient for reading and studying.

4Just what I needed.Sep 09, 2011

I bought this book for my college Cisco course. It (along with the Study Guide) was exactly the same as the book(s) from the college book store, but cheaper. I got both books for the price of this book in the store. Delivery was fast. So all in all. It is what I ordered and wanted. No surprises.

5Lot better than Networking Academy bookJul 04, 2011
By pobrecitoshame
I'm currently in the Cisco Networking Academy and the books they give you for each module are basically just softcover written versions of the Academy's online course, without the pictures, illustrations, tables, or diagrams . No index, no glossary and no end of chapter review questions and answers.Dull.The hardcover companion guides have everything and last forever. Yeah, they cost more, but to me they are worth it.
