Need to Know SecurityApr 02, 2002
As a security professional, I encounter biometrics more and more in work. Increasingly, understanding biometrics is a must for anyone dealing with security. If you need a quick lesson in the basics, this is a great book to start with. A great overview focused on privacy, security, accuracy, system design, and user perceptions, this book also provides a sound evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of leading biometric technologies.

Good introJul 22, 2003
By Jack Sinclair The guys from IBG (International Biometrics Group) did their best to create an introduction to biometrics and their applications.I'd say they did a reasonable job. There's not many books out there, so if you want to dip your toes in the biometric waters, this might be a good place.

Excellent reference for info on biometricsJun 27, 2002

"Author of 'Computer Security: 20 Things Every Employee Should Know'"
Since 9/11, biometrics security, once relegated only to pages in magazine such as Security Management, is now a prime-time subject. While biometrics is not the cure-all many have made it out to be, it is an important area within information security. The Wiley Tech Brief Biometrics: Identity Verification in a Networked World is an in-depth (but not too overbearing) and effective introduction to biometrics The book gives the reader a solid base on what they need to know about the technology, the biometric industry and the many challenges involved with implementing a biometric solution. The book is an in-depth look at biometrics, focused on critical issues such as accuracy, privacy, technology capabilities, and cost-effective deployment. The book shows why organizations are looking at biometrics for user and consumer authentication. The book provides a broad conceptual understanding biometrics, and ends with a look at the factors involved when designing and deploying biometric-based systems.

A unique and comprehensive primer in BiometricsApr 19, 2002
By Noel Coburn There are very few people on earth who could have written this book. It addresses all key aspects of biometric technology and its deployment. In particular, it includes many references to real world initiatives and presents perspectives on the emerging shape of the biometric industry that only seasoned professionals could provide. It addresses what has been a very complex and fragmented industry in a very readable and satisfying way and will be of immense benefit to anyone associated with biometric deployment in the public or private sectors. A "must have" for anyone interested in biometrics.

Comprehensive Viewpoints on BiometricsMay 01, 2002
By Mark A. Peterson This book provided a clear and concise viewpoint on biometric security and devices. Unlike a lot the hype that is out there on biometrics, this book provides a REAL road map for evaluating biometric networked systems.
