The review title expresses my opinion of Exam Cram's CCNA Voice (IIUC/640-460) book. The content is good and includes information I did not see in other books. It may also be shorter or more concise than other books but has enhanced my CCNA-V studies.
The tests on the CD are O.K. but the study mode should include more detailed explanations and information. No labs or configuration exercises are included; these would be very helpful but would no doubt add considerably to the cost of the product.
Overall I feel it was a very good value and recommend it to anyone studying for the CCNA-V (IIUC) exam.

Cisco has broken down the certification track into three more areas that will allow you to hone in on a specified area. They have covered Voice, Security and Wireless. Again CISCO is keeping track of the latest innovations and growing areas in technology. To begin with the CCNA Voice 640-460 Exam Cram is authored by greatly experienced and highly certified CISCO veterans. When opening the book you immediately get a secure feeling that you are about to embark on a journey that will increase your knowledge, experience and most importantly actually assist you in achieving your goal in passing your CCNA Voice certification. They have meticulously broken down the chapters of the books from starting with the basics and building up to the more difficult material.
Included in the beginning of the book is an Exam Cram Sheet which they recommend you review before taking the test. It covers some key factors of what will be on the exam. You get two practice exams designed to aid you in assessing your knowledge of the subject and provides answers and explanations. This is a tool that can be used to help you determine whether you need more hands on training by classroom or more reading up on the matter. While it is not designed to be the only book or means of study that you should use to pass the exam, if you have done your homework and along with your experience you should perform well on the exam. It is recommended that one should make an attempt to install and configuring Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express , Cisco Unity express and UC500 Smart Business Communications System for the exam is based on this knowledge and skill set. The book starts off with a telephony overview that reviews the basic terminology along with alerting you to what you need to master. Each chapter ends with prep questions and answers for review as well as suggested reading and books that can be used for resources. Each chapter is about ten to twenty pages long covering information that is written in a very comprehensible manner. It is relatively an easy read and contains very useful diagrams to explain the practically every area utilized in voice technology. The diagrams and tables are designed in a very detailed but simplistic manner explaining most of the components and how they operate.
There are clear cut examples of the prompts and commands that are most commonly used . It gives you theory on various components, it walks you through details of the Cisco Unified CME and Unity Express software explaining what it is and what it does. You experience installing and configuring the software in graphic detail. The software application is described and each feature of it is explained as well as a step by step how to on configuring it so as to give you a small introduction to the hands on experience that is needed. Again, this is not the only book you will need to pass the exam, however, if you know everything in this book you greatly minimize your chance of failing the exam.
