THE Best Intro to Wi-Fi TechnologyAug 26, 2010
By Timothy Walker CWTS candidates, please skip this review and just buy the book. It is the only study guide officially recognized by the CWNP; if you read and re-read it until you understand every word, you WILL pass the exam. CWNA and CCNA Wireless candidates should also strongly consider starting here as well.
To everyone else, business-minded or technical, I still can not praise this book highly enough. Anyone looking for a vendor-neutral overview of wireless networking written in industry-standard language need look no further. While designed for test prep, any reader will take away the knowledge necessary to set up and secure a SOHO access point or intelligently discuss business requirements with a network consultant. And unlike other technical titles, you might actually enjoy reading this!
Five stars - highly recommended - from a two-hour-old CWTS.

Wireless comprehension made easy!May 19, 2010
By Steven P. Williams Mr. Bartz does an outstanding job providing a functional overview of wireless technology. His book not only provides a great basic understanding of the wireless world but also a clear layout of how all the various facets interoperate. Obtaining a CWTS cert? This is the book to get!

This is an excellent introduction into 802.11 technology. It is relatively easy to understand because it is well written and not overly technical.

Currently, I am using this book as a textbook for a class. It has been very through so far and it is easy to read. The only problem I've had so far is that it doesn't really go into the mathematical calculations using the formulas for calculating relative measurements of power (and others). I wish it had more examples for that.
Otherwise, it has been a very good book to learn from for the beginning to intermediate user. It has a good breakdown into specific topics that will be used on the actual exam for the Certified Wireless Technology Specialist (CWTS). Even though our class is using this as a textbook and not really geared towards taking the test, I might consider taking it because of the amount of knowledge I've gained thus far.
The small 20 questions tests at the end of each chapter are helpful in testing your knowledge of each chapter. All of the figures included have been easy to understand and are helpful in explaining each subject.
This is the first book I've read on wireless technology, but it has been a crucial factor in helping me understand everything involved in wireless technology. I would definitely recommend this book to other people who are thinking about taking the CWTS exam.
Great information in an easy to read format - finally a tech book for the real world!Dec 06, 2009
By G. R. Ashton This is a great book. I have been reading technical books and studying for their exams for over 15 years. This is the first book that didn't bore me to tears! Robert's use of humor makes the technical understanding meaningful and impressionable. I enjoyed his use of common examples we all know to understand the complexities of the RF world.
Nice job and Thank you for writing a book we can all understand and remember!
