Excel 2007 MacrosApr 20, 2009

This book presents the fundamentals of recording and modifying Excel macros. It would be more useful if it contained a few actual, complex macros as examples for users who wanted to do more than put their names into a cell.

Very Basic, But Very Good At Getting StartedSep 15, 2009

I agree w/ the previous reviewer that more complex examples would be nice, but I bought this book with some old programming experience (COBOL) and just needed to get pointed in the right direction w/ Macros and possibly modifying the Visual Basic code they create. If that is what you're looking for this book is perfect.
Yes, it does lead you through very detailed examples - sometimes you appreciate the handholding, and other times you can skim through it. A couple areas come to mind: 1)such as the need to install the Developer Ribbon and most importantly 2)the complex way Excel 2007 can store your macros in various locations. (FYI, it took me a while to figure out that the PERSONAL workbook that is automatically opened is Hidden and you have to Unhide it to modify or delete macros stored there).
I've loaned it to two colleagues, both of which ran out and purchased their own copy.

Great for even the beginnerDec 05, 2010

This book is great to keep at your desk for writing codes, from simple codes to complex. I think even someone who isn't so experienced could understand the terminology found in this book. From what I can see in Office 2010, the code is that same.
Needed a JumpstartFeb 08, 2010

This book was just what I needed to get me started! I had not done any programming since college (20 years ago), but once I skimmed through the book I was off and running! This book is great for those who have never coded or programmed, but still want to create easy programs to format sheets, etc... For those who need to program again after a 5 or 10 year break, it will get you started, but you'll still need someone around to help with the details. The online help is very good, but not great. I bought a follow-up book, but it is for experts. I need an intermediate book so I can stop bugging my co-workers! Also, this will help bridge the gap for those who are used to Excel Macros 2003.

Good reference book for CollegeDec 07, 2009
By D. WINKA I needed a book on 2007 Macros for Excel for MicroSoft for a couse I am taking at University of Missour St. Louis, and this was just the book I needed. It was far less expense than the book at the Campus Bookstore, shipped extremely fast, and detailed enough for my class.
