By Arthur Bosse I ordered this book for my business helping others protect their electronic data and found it to be a very comprehensive guide to network security. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in a career in IT and network security!
Just the BasicsFeb 04, 2012
By Riley I bought this book for one of my college classes and for one it was about $40 cheaper than what the college had to offer, and secondly its a good way to learn the basics.
A Special note to who ever is considering on buying this book, If you buy it used make sure the CD is included, I bought mine and there was no CD that came with the book. But for the most part you can go online and get the software that they require for free.

I like the book, but the DVD won't boot on any computer I haveAug 25, 2011
By Glenn I loved the first edition of this book, which introduced me to the OSSTMM and one of my most productive working relationships, with Pete Herzog. What I've read of this edition, so far, is excellent. But I do wish I could get the DVD to boot - on anything. I've tried 5 computers so far, from an old P3 to a brand-new Win7 machine. It appears that the squashfs initial ramdisk isn't supported by lot of BIOSes - but why wouldn't it work with a brand-new machine?
