From the supplier: Most network intrusion detection systems (IDS) such as software and hardware systems fail to discover the origin of computer security encroachments although with proper security management it may discourage hackers from unauthorized access. Two types of IDS which are capable of anomaly detection and misuse detection are commercially available. Placement of the IDS software is recommended within the firewall since it is time efficient on the part of the system administrator. A computer network burglar alarm may also be used through the misuse detection IDS system.
