Low Risk High Tech

This product is currently out of stock
Description:

The book is intended as a guide to online investing. It is based on the author's chronicle of his own investment experience, which led him to question many of the basic tenets of the brokerage establishment. It is neither a rehash of Economics 101, nor a prescription for amassing a fortune, however, the author offers valuable suggestions for those that are willing to invest time along with their money in order to reap some of the rewards that the revolution in technology has brought us.

As he traces his experience with different types of investing Bob explains how, through trial and error,he made certain discoveries, which tended to negate the conventional wisdom on the subject. these discoveries are lucidly outlined as revelations that apply almost exclusively to investing in technology.

The myth of high risk in technology is gradually dispelled as the reader is entertained by a lively text with numerous graphs and humorous illustrations. The author goes on to show how he continued to get triple digit percentage returns long after the dot.com bubble had burst. He also takes issue with the business media for failing to seperate the wheat from the chaff in tech, while using the term "flight to quality" in order to describe the subsequent bubble in old economy stocks.

The disaster of nine-eleven and how it affected a broad range of stocks is deftly illustrated in a series of graphs compiled after the tragedy. The author's increased reliance on insider buying in small tech stocks derives from this period.

Bob doesn't shy away from macro issues that could affect the technology revolution. He contends that the "three gorgons of innovation" are terrorism, monopoly and the "lust for litigation", which are all skillfully disected by the author with refreshing disregard for political correctness.

Nevertheless, the liberating effect of investing online remains the dominent theme throughout the book. Technical jargon is unveiled to its relevent essence for the investor. Readers are exhorted to inform themselves and rely on their own intuitive knowledge in order to profit from an irrational market. Above all, the book is about self-reliance in a world that has become wary of experts.
