Navigating the Web was developed to teach the fundamentals of the World Wide Web, the basic feature set and user interface of the Netscape Navigator 4.0x Web browser, and the skills necessary to locate and consume Web-based content. This full-day course focuses on the navigation and consumption of hypermedia information. Students are exposed to all Web-based multimedia data formats, including Java, Acrobat, Shockwave, panoramic images, virtual objects, and RealVideo. Navigating the Web focuses on the following topics: Linear vs. non-linear information Hypertext, hyperlinks, and hypermedia Web infrastructure: browsers and servers Web addresses: URLs and transfer protocols Web cookies Netscape Navigator 4.0x user interface and feature set Web forms and frames Customizing Navigator 4.0x
