Description:

Official (ISC)2(R) Guide to the CISSP-ISSEP(R) CBK(R) provides an inclusive analysis of all of the topics covered on the newly created ISSEP Exam. The first fully comprehensive guide to the test, it promotes understanding of the four ISSEP domains. It explains ISSE by comparing it to a traditional Systems Engineering model, enabling readers to see the correlation of how security fits into the design and development process. It also details key points of more than 50 U.S. government policies and procedures, which need to be understood in order to gain ISSEP certification. According to Jim Wiggins of SAIT/IMT who used the book to pass the test, which is typically passed by only 30 percent of applicants, "I'd say you've done a pretty good job in writing a book that helps prepare candidates for the test as well as provide them a great resource for understanding much of the process of the Federal Government relating to IA..."

1Officail ISC2 Guide to the CISSP_ISSEP CBKAug 25, 2009
By Roderick Koch
This book is atleast 2 years out of date. I was disapointed in the relvance of the topics covered. I will use it as a guide to what areas are on the ISSEP CBK, but I would never consider this the single source to study for the test. I recommend a book called FISMA. Not the ISSEP is only about FISMA, the this book gives better more timely coverage of several domains of study for CISSP-ISSEP.

5ISSEP CBKOct 23, 2005
By Lincoln Rhoads
This book is a must have book for preparation and study for the ISSEP exam as of October 23, 2005. This book also has good study questions for each chapter at the end of the book to guide you in testing your knowledge per chapter. The book also goes into additional details in some areas to provide more information to the security pactitioner. The author provides an e-mail address for errata in the book.

The down sides to the book are that none of the unclassified public documents are available on CD with the book and no electronic quiz program are included. There are reference lists at the end of each chapter showing the links to download the public documents.

2Someone please offer a new book on this subject!Oct 20, 2007
By Schooled
There is enough information in the book to pass the ISSEP, provided you already possess a strong IA foundation. Recommend also reading the source documents, especially the IATF and CC, to improve your odds of passing the exam the first time. Also recommend looking at the ISSEP section in the latest Krutz and Vines CISSP study guide.

2Okay, but datedJul 31, 2008
By J. Fowler
While most of the information in this book is okay, this book is dated and is missing a lot of key essentials. The _FISMA Certification and Accreditation Handbook_ has more in depth information.

2Maybe not for meFeb 14, 2012
By William F. Clancy
I've held a CISSP for 6 years and been active in DOD computer security for well over a decade, but I simply couldn't get through this well enough to even attempt a test. Somehow the concepts presented simply didn't sink in well enough for me to feel good enough to pony up $500 for a test seat.
