5The definitive quickstart for webcenter11gApr 02, 2010
By A. R. Santagata "Angelo"
A great kick-starter

This is what I call a great book for bootstrapping any Webcenter 11g development team. Webcenter 11g is a product with great breadth, and depth, and thus to be able to develop applications with it you need to know something about Weblogic Server (basics), ADF11g, the Webcenter11g framework and portal/portlet standards. The book takes you through a voyage taking you from the basics of weblogic server, through ADF11g development and then very quickly onto the meat on how to develop webcenter applications, covering in depth portlets with interportlet communication and how to use the webcenter enterprise 2.0 services.. There's even a sneak preview of how Oracle Fusion Applications is leveraging Oracle Webcenter

Although I consider myself a seasoned Webcenter 11g Architect, I found the book enlightening and I found lots of golden nuggets (aka hints and tips) which itself made the book worth reading.

I'd definitively recommend this book to anyone, from architect to developer, who is looking to implement a Webcenter 11g landscape..

Although this is a great starter book, I'd also strongly recommend also reading the JDeveloper 11g Handbook (general all round ADF and JDeveloper) and the Oracle Fusion Developer Guide (ADF Faces in depth)..

Enjoy the reading!

WebCenter 11g Handbook is the most comprehensive yet easy to follow guide for anyone who is engaged in exploring, architecture(ing), designing or implementing WebCenter 11g. Peter and team are in a unique position as they have not only been part of the Oracle WebCenter 11g Development team, but have supported several early customers and partners who have deployed 11g, and have incorporated into this handbook the typical challenges one would face.

The book not only covers WebCenter Services, Metadata Services, Oracle Composer, Re-skinning but also goes into interesting topics like integrating WebCenter with other applications and also how it is being used by Oracle Fusion Applications.

4Outstanding Technical ContentApr 22, 2010
By Michael Higgins "Micheal Higgins"
A very comprehensive view of the Web Centre product !! An invaluable aid to those building enterprise level portals and application delivery. Good TOC and index, easy to work with and to find details. Could have used a little more "example + final product" work, but all-in-all a solid addition to any Oracle shop's library.

3Installation NightmareApr 09, 2012
By John M. Slick "ginger vitis"
In the short video clip which I found on this page, the author says "we just released" a virtual box of all the stuff needed for installation. I'd sure like to know when "just released" was, because I have wasted many days trying to install what is still an incompatible mess by trying to follow OTN docs and match pieces from the OTN download site. I know that WebCenter works, but I think one must be a certified Oracle partner in order to get it properly installed and configured.
This mess is like a bump in the rug: can't get it smoothed out.
