Description:

Perfect for any sewer with a love for animals, this delightful handbook to crafting homemade stuffed animals features 12 fabric and sock animals that are guaranteed to charm. Making appearances are Poppo Piggy, with a big button nose and floppy ears; Jeff Bear, with his lanky body smartly dressed in a turtleneck and corduroy pants; and Wind Lion, with a mane of colorful fabric scraps and a sideways expression. Sewers will learn not only quirky embellishment techniques—from creating button noses or ribbon hair to hand-embroidering faces—but also how to craft clothing accessories such as dresses, tops, scarves, hats, skirts, and pants. Step-by-step illustrations and pattern templates keep the crafting process clear and simple; and because many of the accessories are made from socks, fabric scraps, and trims, these stuffed animals make a perfectly adorable—and affordable—gift.

5Too adorable to pass upMar 16, 2010
By Cat Linn
If you like to sew (hand and/or machine) AND you get a kick out of making stuffed creatures AND you love to 'upcycle' old clothing, fabric, yarn and such, then you simply must get this book. These suffed animals are small--about 12" to 15" at the tallest--but they are the most charming, whimsical, expressive, silly and fun little "lovies" you'll ever make. Patterns are included, directions are clear, and you've got plenty of room and encouragement to add your own creative flourishes. I'm creative and crafty and quite handy with needle and thread, but I don't know that I'd have ever come up with animals this adoreable and lovable on my own. Do yourself a solid and buy this book for your birthday--you'll be so glad you did.

The characters in this book are darling and so full of personality!! The instructions are detailed and the author's suggestions for use of recycled/repurposed materials are great--I'm looking forward to stitching up a few of these sweet little critters!

5Great fun book!Aug 10, 2010
By Patricia Kimball
I have recently gotten into sewing stuffed creatures and looked at this book about a year ago. REcently saw it again and decided it was my style... and I love it! The patterns are super easy and the visual ideas have sparked me to step out of the ordinary. I am on my third project and love them all!

5Cute but where's the Monkey?Jan 30, 2010
By T. Manabe "mustang7"
When I received this book I couldn't help but smile at the projects. There are some really cute stuffed toys in here and can be made with things you may have around the house. Socks, knit fabric, cotton, are some of the fabric Hsiu-Lan Kuei used to make her toys. And buttons and beads were used to make eyes. I found myself wishing there were more projects, or at least hoping she'll do another book. There is a picture of a monkey doll in there that is so absolutely darling -- but, he's not included in the book with instructions. Perhaps there is another book in the works, at least I hope so, that'll have the monkey.

5Oh so Cute!Mar 27, 2010
By Kathy
I love looking at crafting books and saw this one in Michaels before deciding to buy it on Amazon. I have a nice collection of various sewing/crafting books and this one has joined them. I am very selective about the ones I do buy. This one has such cute very original ideas with simple instructions that it won a place of honor on my shelf. I have a baby grandson and the "friends" are not all girly looking which will suit his daddy just fine.
