3Book needs updatingFeb 03, 2007
By Cate
The third edition, copyright 2006, often seems outdated. The examples and references are usually from the 1980's or 1990's. The authors provided a new edition, but I don't see that much effort went into actually updating the material. They don't even introduce object oriented approaches until the last chapter of the book. It's almost like it's an afterthought. They also don't provide much information on RAD or agile methods.

I feel like I bought a circa 1999 book. Disappointing.

5Highly RecommendedApr 13, 2000

Price reflects quality. This book is superb for System Analyst and Designers (SAD), both beginner and advanced ones. It is very informative that can be used for both learning and reference purposes. The authors explain everything very clearly using the same case examples (CD Selection case) and exercises for every chapter, so it's very easy to understand and keep track as you move chapter by chapter. I used to screw up in SAD but as I started using this book, I learned much more and much better than before. Thanks to the authors for thier good job and my professor who recommended this book to the class. Highly recommended for anyone interested in SAD.

I have the new 4th edition (2009) and it is probably the most outdated CIS book I have ever seen! The web gets lip service, the thing is still using the old mainframe-mini-micro paradigm I havent seen since sometime in the 80's. It appears that this is an ancient text that has had some very limited spot updating over the years and really needs to be retired.

5A Great and Concise Introduction to SDLCJul 31, 2000

I was introducted to this book as a student of DeVry Institute of Technology. I think the book provides the most concise, yet informative theory of the System Development Life Cycle. Those interested in project management, infrastructure management, etc. would find this book extremely concise and "to-the-point". The book also provides an array of examples, including case projects and questions. I think the only thing missing from this book is an interactive CD or software such as Microsoft Project or Visible Analyst. But we know how Microsoft is about licensing and purchase standards. Anyway, the book is an excellent resource for those interested in information systems management.

5everything one needs to knowSep 16, 2011

SACbooks the vendor I purchased this book from provided excellent cust service. The order was delayed by usps and presumed lost, seeing that the vendor quickly refunded my amount. However the order finally did reach and so I authorised them to charge my card.

The book itself covers all the core points efficiently. Those of you seeking a insight on what systems analysis is all about won't be disapointed. This book has been recomended by quite a lot of professionals and now I know why.

I had to mention the feedback on the seller here cause I couldn't leave the feedback at the other link, sorry if it made the review partially irrelevant.
