3DisappointedJan 25, 2008
By techie t
I was looking forward to the release of this book having had good success with other MS Inside Out books. The author mostly repeats what is obvious when viewing configuration pages without providing much in the way of additional, anecdotal information that would help explain the various settings.

The section on backups using the stsadm utility is frustrating as the author keeps repeating the location of stsadm for 32 and 64 bit versions, which happen to be located in the same directory for both. I count 14 times within 5 pages using 4 lines each time. I couldn't help but feel he was getting paid by the word and trying to fill the pages.

The book would be most useful as a quick reference guide or if you are considering using WSS 3.0 and want quick facts regarding it's features.

If you want to buy only one book on the subject of SharePoint 2007/WSS 3.0 'Microsoft SharePoint 2007 Unleashed' is the one I recommend.

5SharePoint Inside OutFeb 28, 2008
By Derek in Vancouver Area
Excellent book, well presented, well written. Either for a front-to-back tutorial, or for dipping into for actual details, this book helps cut through the fog created by bloggers, badly-written books and other useless dross that so often clutters up this type of product.

And while I have your ear, there should be a "Law Of The Internet" that says you have to date-stamp informational pages so that unsuspecting persons don't think they are getting good information, when in fact it is several years (or versions) out of date!

Just a rant.

5Must Read SharePoint BookJan 26, 2008
By Steven Lomos "MOSS GURU"
I just finshed this book and I have about 10 pages of notes that I created over the past 2 weeks of reading this book. The author is a SharePoint consultant and not a trainer so it give great perspective of what is really happening within a Sharepoint project. I am very impressed at the insight that is given here. This book will help you do it right the first time. I will be giving this to my Sharepoint administrator for him to read next.

4Using this book to manage our medical billing businessJan 27, 2008
By Kevin Dement "Burbble Medical Management"
This book has been great. I consider myself a moderate for collaboration websites. Using this Sharepoint Services book we provide our doctors a login to the freshly formed website and view their specific activity related to their medical billing activity. Using this book has also allowed me to develop a collaboration website for the multiple clinics we currently manage. It has allowed me to expand the scope of the business to include managing medical admin staff online, allowing employees to login to a secure central online website and communicate in one location rather than isolating important work sent via email to individual computers. This book was helpful enabling collaboration, automating processes, and eliminating duplication of effort. Bravo to the author of this new inside out Microsoft book. I thank you and my business called Burbble Medical Management thanks you.

5Best SharePoint Book Out ThereJan 30, 2008
By Tom Gordon
I got so much out of this book and its going to make my companies new SharePoint implementation but very robust. I really enjoyed the discussions on how to structure your SharePoint project, the questions it makes you ask (including a questionnaire), and then the architecture topics as well. The site creation \ site governance was very helpful as well. Great job to the author! Very insightful
